Saturday afternoon, I headed over to The Shanty Bar and Grill in Hilbert, WI for their annual Sturgeon Spearing Weekend bash. If you haven’t been, this event is an absolute blast. The lake was alive, and the parking lot was a sea of crazy UTVs and folks sharing stories about the big fish they’d seen on Lake Winnebago.

The energy was everywhere—the crowd was packed into the tents and spilling through the bar, all looking to grab a cold one, eat some great food, and soak up the atmosphere. Between the sets, the bar owners were keeping the excitement high with a bunch of giveaways that the fans really seemed to love.

On a personal note, I absolutely love both of the bar owners. They are genuine, salt-of-the-earth people who are always fun to be around. You can tell they do their absolute best to keep the fun alive in Hilbert, and they really know how to treat their guests like family.

Providing the soundtrack for the festivities in the tent was Dustn Lee. Known for his country-rock style and high-energy presence, he kept the music flowing as the crowd rolled in from the ice. While the main bar offered a spot to grab a drink and chat away from the stage volume, the tent was the place to be if you wanted to catch the performance. Whether you were seeking out the live set or just enjoying the view of the lake, the party was moving in every corner.
