Sunday Funday: Ivy Ford Turns Up the Heat at PetSkull Brewing
There I was, staring at a rare "Sunday Funday" working on photos and a text from a friend asking the golden question: "What are you doing today?" I was kid-free for the day, so when they suggested heading over to PetSkull Brewing Company for a 2:00 PM show featuring Ivy Ford, I didn’t need a second invitation.
The Scene: Afternoon Vibes at PetSkull
Walking into PetSkull mid-afternoon, you immediately get that "this is where the locals know to go" vibe. It’s a cool-as-hell setup with a massive list of beers and mixers. Now, full disclosure: I’m no beer connoisseur, but I know what tastes good.
I ordered a Schnitzky, a wheat Hefeweizen. Pro tip: when you order, the crew yells out the name of the beer. It’s a total riot and sets the tone for the afternoon immediately. I ended up trying three different flavors—all of them were impressive. If you're looking for things to do in Manitowoc, putting this brewery on your list is a no-brainer.
The Main Event: Ivy Ford
Then, the reason for the trek: Ivy Ford.
She took the stage with her drummer and bass player, and from the first note, it was Blues time. Ivy is what you’d call an "old soul" artist. She’s versatile, talented, and has this sultry energy that just connects with everyone in the room. She commands the room with a magical sort of energy.
The band was absolutely dialed in. The rhythm provides a rock-solid foundation that let Ivy’s guitar work and vocals soar. It was a "hot" show in every sense of the word. While I usually find something to love in most acts I see, I’ve captured the photos and videos so you can see the talent for yourself and be the judge.
Personally? I’m already trying to figure out how we can get her up to the Valley for a few shows soon!
