Let’s be real: sometimes the best nights start with a long drive and a bit of mystery. Last weekend, I took an hour-long cruise from the Valley down to Malone, WI, because I got an invite I couldn't refuse—checking out Flannel Revival at the legendary Whiskey Row.
When I first pulled up in the dark, I’ll be honest—the exterior had that "weathered roadhouse" look that makes you wonder if you’re in the right place. But man, does looks deceive! This place is a piece of history; apparently, it used to be an old hotel back in the day. After parking on the side and trekking around to the entrance, I stepped inside and was immediately floored.
The Vibe at Whiskey Row
If you’re looking for things to do in Malone, this venue is a total hidden gem. It has an incredible old-school vibe with a massive bar that feels like it has stories to tell. The decor? Unbeatable. There is a classic Cadillac perched on the roof outside, and another one literally "floating" in the back of the music hall. It’s the kind of Malone nightlife atmosphere you just can't manufacture.
The Main Event: Flannel Revival
I walked in just as Flannel Revival was getting things cracking, and the energy hit me like a wall. I even ran into some friends who had made the trek out—always a good sign!
This band doesn't just play music; they tear through the best of 90s and 2000s Hard Rock. If you grew up on grunge and radio rock, this is your tribe. Here’s what stood out to me:
Dual Vocals: Both singers are absolutely on point. Their harmonies and individual power are a real treat to listen to.
The X-Factor: You don’t often see a violin in a hard rock lineup, but in Flannel Revival, it’s a total game-changer. It adds a layer of depth that makes their sound stand out from your average cover band.
The Crowd: The floor was moving, and the band’s stage presence kept everyone locked in.
As always, I’ve got the photos and videos right here for you to check out so you can see the action for yourself. In my book? Both the band and the venue are a total "Winner Winner" situation. If you see them on a list of live events near me, don't think—just go.
