If you’ve ever needed proof that Wisconsin folks can find each other anywhere, let me tell you about last Friday night in sunny Cape Coral, Florida! I was down here for a quick mini-vacation — a little break from the Wisconsin cold — when my buddy Scotty Meyer told us that a killer local band called Dead Man’s Hand was playing at the Tiki Hut Bar & Grill at the Dolphin Key Resort.
Scotty had jammed with these guys before and swore they’d blow the roof off the place. That was all I needed to hear. Next thing you know, a dozen familiar Wisconsin faces were rolling into this massive, open-air tiki bar that looks straight out of a beach movie without the ocean. The vibe? Pure paradise — palm trees, neon lights, and shrimp sizzling.
The band Dead Man’s Hand was shaking the tiki. The lead singer — powerful voice — led the band through a versatile mix of rock anthems, sing-along favorites, and a few surprises that had everyone up and moving. These guys didn’t just play songs; they owned them. These guys are tight, the guitar work was sharp, and the crowd fed off every beat.
Between bites of calamri, cold drinks, and a few too many laughs with friends, it felt like the kind of night that captures everything great about live music. And here’s the cherry on top — the frontman for Dead Man’s Hand just opened a new spot called Lumber Axe Whiskey Bar & Grill in Fort Myers—definitely adding that to my next trip list.
If you ever find yourself looking up “live events near me in Cape Coral” or scouting things to do in Florida, make sure the Tiki Hut Bar & Grill and Dead Man’s Hand are at the top of your list. Trust me, great food, great music, and a great crowd — you can’t lose.
