Model Citizens — Thirst Bar and Grill, Greenville — Saturday, October 31, 2026
Halloween night in the Fox Valley had a lot of options, but if you wanted the full package — a packed room, a wall of costumes, and a band that treats the night like a party it's hosting — Thirst Bar and Grill in Greenville was the place, and Model Citizens were the reason why.
This is a band built for a room like this. Model Citizens work the familiar stuff — oldies, '80s and '90s favorites, pop, rock, and a little country — the songs everybody in the building already knows the words to. On a normal Saturday that keeps a crowd singing along. On Halloween, with half the room in costume and the other half wishing they'd worn one, it turned the whole bar into part of the show.
I spent the night at Thirst shooting photos and video, and there was never a dead spot to shoot. The band kicked off at 8, the dance floor filled in early, and the costumes kept getting better as the night went on — the costume finals at midnight, with prizes on the line, were a show all by themselves. No cover, a full room, and a band that never let the energy dip: that's how you do Halloween in Greenville.
Thirst keeps proving it's one of the Valley's real live-music rooms. Weekend bands, a crowd that actually shows up for them, and nights like this one — where the bar, the band, and the audience are all in it together — are why it's become a regular stop on my shooting route.
