Friday night rolled around, and I decided to peel myself off the couch to see what was shaking in the 920. My destination? Thirst Bar & Grill in Appleton. My mission? Catching a set by a fresh face on the local circuit, Mariah Ann Maass.
Walking into Thirst is always a safe bet—the staff was on point as usual, dodging through a nice crowd of people who were clearly ready to kick off the weekend.
Then, Mariah Ann Maass took the stage. Now, I’ve seen a lot of acts, but this "little firecracker" definitely didn't come to play background music. She jumped into her set with a ton of energy, mixing in covers with her own original material. I’ll be honest: some of her own songs were actually very good. It’s always a bit of a gamble when a performer says, "Here's one I wrote," but Mariah seemed to hold her own quite well.
She’s got a vibe that’s hard to pin down, but definitely worth a look if you’re scouting for new local talent. I’m going to stay neutral here and let you be the judge—I’ve included some clips and shots below so you can decide for yourself if she’s your new favorite Friday night soundtrack. One thing is for sure: you should probably keep an eye on this young lady as she finds her rhythm in the Appleton scene.
