Saturday night brought the kind of energy that only a Wisconsin bar crowd can deliver. 🍻 I rolled into Rookies in Appleton, WI, just as the Black Label Trio kicked into their groove. The place was buzzing — a mix of locals polishing off burgers, regulars warming up at the bar, and a few couples that looked ready to dance off their week.
Now, Rookies isn’t exactly built for arena rock — the band was tucked up front near the dining area, surrounded by tables filled with people grabbing dinner. But that didn’t stop these guys from owning it. Black Label Trio brought a solid playlist packed with classic rock hits, upbeat sing-alongs, and a few surprise requests from the crowd. It’s the kind of setlist that makes everyone nod, grin, and say, “Oh yeah, this one!”
You could tell the band was having a blast — there’s something contagious about musicians who actually enjoy what they’re doing. The frontman’s banter kept people laughing, and when a small group jumped up to dance near the tables, nobody seemed to mind. A couple of guys I chatted with told me they drove all the way from Stevens Point just to watch them play because they were family of the band. Now that’s dedication.
Black Label Trio might not have the biggest stage, but they delivered big sound, easy vibes, and the kind of connection that makes small-town Wisconsin nightlife special.
