Night at Waterfest: Dancing in the Rain with The Revivalists

What a night to remember at Waterfest in Oshkosh! Despite a sudden storm that took us by surprise, the energy was unstoppable as we waited patiently for the rain to clear. The incredible band, The Revivalists, didn't let a little rain dampen their spirits – they rocked the stage with their soulful tunes and had us grooving in no time.

Waterfest Oshkosh - Alex McMurray and Dirty Honey

Waterfest Oshkosh Dirty Honey
Waterfest Oshkosh with Alex McMurray and Dirty Honey

Just like that, it's the last night of Oshkosh Waterfest. They finished the season with Dirty Honey, Alex McMurray Band, and the Mac Saturn Band. I brought my daughter to check out the show. We got in late and missed the Mac Saturn Band. I was surprised the crowd seemed small. But the Packers preseason game was on at the same time, so maybe that was a bit of a draw. When we arrived, the Alex McMurray band was already playing some funky music. They are a fantastic band and brought some serious energy to the stage. Then Dirty Honey came out and hit the stage. This band was a lot of fun and fired up the crowd. You can get a taste of both these bands by watching the video and looking at the photos. The music was great and we had a great time. Make sure to check out the Oshkosh Waterfest schedule and get to a show soon! Check out the video and a few photos below you can see all the photos on the main photo gallery site! Looking for things to do this weekend!? Go to WiParty to see what is happening.

Waterfest Oshkosh - Trombone Shorty and Gov't Mule Band

Waterfest Oshkosh with Trombone Shorty & Gov't Mule
Waterfest Oshkosh with Trombone Shorty & Gov't Mule

Trombone Shorty & Government Mule came to put on the show for the August 18th Oshkosh Waterfest. I headed over and hoped for the best with the weather. There was rain in Menasha as I left. But the closer I got to Oshkosh, the nicer the weather got. I walked into the amphitheater and Trombone Shorty was already up on stage and tearing it up. It was really nice to have something different for music. This band came up from New Orleans and brought some sassy jazz with him for everyone to enjoy. Make sure to check out the band's info on the Trombone Shorty Website or listen to the music here. Next up on stage was Gov't Mule. Labeled as a Southern Rock Jam band. With hits like Thorazine Shuffle, Soulshine, and Broke Down on the Brazos listen now. The crowd was a fun-loving, easy-going group of people. When Gov't Mule came on stage the crowd went crazy. I will be honest I have not heard of this band before. But I was glad I came out and saw them. There were a few songs I recognized that I didn't know they sang. It was a fun night with some good weather. Always love some live music and summertime. Make sure to check out the Oshkosh Waterfest schedule and get to a show soon! Waterfest Oshkosh - Hairball, Road Trip, and BBI Band

Hairball Band at Waterfest Oshkosh 49
Take 2 Acoustic Cover Band Appleton Wi

What a great night for Oshkosh Waterfest. June 23 2022 with a great lineup. Starting up with the Chicago Band BBI. They came out with some fantastic energy! I took a few minutes to run out to the seawall and see what was going on with the boaters. It was nice to see a fairly full wall of boats cover the whole block. Make sure to check out the full gallery to see all the boat pictures. I went back in once I heard Roadtrip playing. They are always a fun local group to see. They did a great job tonight as usual! I ran into a number of old friends and caught up a little bit. Then Hairball came out and hit the stage. They rocked the hell out of it! The led backdrop, costume changes, pyrotechnics, and fog gun were amazing visuals you can't help but love. I think the band gets a little better every year. Check out the video and the photos below as well as the photo gallery site photos here! Looking for things to do this weekend!? Go to WiParty to see what is happening.

Oshkosh Waterfest - Journey & Boston Show

Oshkosh Waterfest - Rudy Cardenas sing Journey
Oshkosh Waterfest - Rudy Cardenas sing Journey

See all of the photos - It was a fantastic night to go and hear some live music. So a run to Waterfest just seemed to be the right thing to do. I got down a little late. So we missed Roadtrip. A good crowd was there and ready for some Journey and Boston hits to be sung. We grabbed a couple of beers and walked around. Then Rudy Cardenas came on stage and got the show rocking. He was an American Idol Finalist and you could understand why. This guy really does a great job with the Journey songs. So when Rudy was done with his set the band stayed on stage and Tommy Decarlo the Boston Vocalist since 2007 came out and knocked out the Boston tunes for the crowd. I ran into some great friends and had a blast listening to some killer old tunes. There is only one Waterfest left for this year. Next weekend this year with Child's Anthem – The music of Toto, Steely Dane, and the FBI & The untouchable horns. I hope you enjoy the photos! See all the photos - Photo Gallery

Boating Lake Winnebago July 2nd 2020

2020 boating Lake Winnebago Streich's Beach

It was one hot day and a great day to be out on the boat. We jumped on with our birthday boy friend Chris on his 27ft Powerquest. We meet up at Pioneer marina in Oshkosh and loaded up the boat with coolers and bags of goodies. A qucik smooth ride over to Streich's Beach. When we pulled in there was about 30 to 40 boats. The water looked fairly clear at first. But once in the water we found out the algea bloom has begun. It wasn't bad but not great. With in a few hours of relaxing and enjoying each other company. We had a few more boating friends come in and tie up. Overall it was a great day on the water with good friends, food and weather.

Social distance boating the new norm

Social distance boating the new norm. I am sure many of you have been itching to get on the boats, just like every year!  But with the Covid 19 and the stay at home order, I think it is 10 times worse.  We went out this last Saturday and it was very interesting.  Everyone has the same thing on their minds and rightfully so: Stay 6 feet away and keep cleaning your hands and everything you touch.  That is one good thing I guess with the boating world - it really can be your own space.  Jump in the boat with your home crew and get a mental break if only for a little while. It was a very welcome change of scenery.  We brought out a bunch of good food and some drinks. Made a little run to Streich's.  It was great to see old friends even at a distance.  It really helps to take the mental edge off.  I am not going to condone going out.  My belief is to use your common sense, keep your distance, keep cleaning everything including washing/sanitizing your hands. Use a zoom lens to take photos. Reality is we should be trying to clean and sanitize all the time.  Again just my opinion.   I am sure some of you will be mad that we went at all.  I understand and respect your opinions.   I do not take this virus lightly at all and feel horrible for the loss of life and for all the front line workers.  My hats off to all of you.
I hope you enjoy the photos.  See Photo Gallery for more photos.

More Boating photos 2004 / 2005

It is a lot of fun to take a look back at these old photos. So hard to believe how much time has past. Days of the Pioneer Tiki bar, hanging out at Streich's beach and reminiscing about great old friends that are not with us anymore. Little did I realize when I was taking these. How much I would truly enjoy looking back and remembering the fun!

I can't wait for some of the next adventures with old friends and the new ones we will make this year on the water. I hope you enjoy these photos!
