Perfect Day Tubing and Grilling on Lake Winnebago
Last Monday was just about perfect for a day on the water. The weather was fantastic, the sun was shining, and everyone was ready for some summer fun. I had my son and two of his buddies along for the ride, plus my daughter and her boyfriend. With the pontoon loaded up, we set off from Menominee Park in Oshkosh, excited for a day of tubing and good company.
We quickly got the tube hooked up and let the fun begin. The boys wanted to start with some rounds of "crack the whip," a tubing game that’s as thrilling as it sounds. Ten minutes in, and it was clear they weren't tiring out anytime soon. Eventually, we had to pull them off so my daughter and her boyfriend could take a turn—and let’s just say, the tube doesn’t get any easier for adults!
From there, we cruised across the lake, towing the tube all the way to Streich’s Beach. The water was warm and inviting, the sun hot but perfect for a day like this. As always, the atmosphere at Streich’s was friendly and relaxed—with plenty of fellow boaters enjoying the lake and the good vibes.
We brought along the grill and fired up some cheddar brats and shrimp, soaking up the sounds and sights of summer on Lake Winnebago. Most of the day was spent just hanging out, making memories, and hoping this wasn’t the last warm day of the season.
On the way back, we had a few more rounds of crack the whip on the tube, which naturally led to plenty of laughter and silly spills. It was a great day on the water, shared with some of my favorite people—what more could you ask for?
I snapped some pictures of the day too, hoping they capture the joy and fun of a simple summer outing. Fingers crossed for more days like this!
