Hairball & Michael Weber Show Bring the Heat to a Brisk Oshkosh Waterfest Kickoff!

Last night’s Oshkosh Waterfest kickoff had all the classic Wisconsin summer vibes: a brisk 64 degrees, perfect for sweatshirts, blankets, and a little extra snuggle on the riverfront. The crowd was ready to rock, and a few brave boaters even floated in to catch the action up close.
The Scene: Oshkosh Waterfest, Wisconsin Style
Picture this: the Fox River gliding by, the sunset painting the sky, and a crowd bundled up just enough to be cozy. It wasn’t cold, just “refreshingly cool”—the kind of weather where you high-five yourself for remembering your hoodie. The crowd? Full of energy and ready to rock. The boaters? Legends, waving from the water like they owned it.
The Performers: Michael Weber Show & Hairball
First up, The Michael Weber Show. If you’ve never seen Michael live, you’re missing out on a whirlwind of guitar wizardry and pure rock ‘n’ roll spirit. His bluesy riffs and infectious energy got everyone moving—even the folks wrapped in blankets couldn’t resist a little head-bob.
Then Hairball took the stage and cranked the party up to eleven. These guys are a tribute band on steroids—costume changes, pyrotechnics, and all the classic rock anthems you could ever want. The crowd sang along to every chorus, and the band’s energy was so high, I’m convinced they raised the temperature a couple degrees.

I ran into old friends, made some new ones, and even chatted with a couple of the river’s bravest boaters. People were wrapped up and smiling, sharing laughs and stories between sets. It was the perfect kickoff to summer—no matter what the thermometer said.

Was it chilly? Maybe a little. Did anyone care? Not a chance. Oshkosh Waterfest 2025 is off to a rocking start, and if last night was any indication, this summer’s going to be one for the books.
