If there is one thing we Wisconsinites know how to do, it’s turning a national holiday into an all-day, floating, high-energy festival. Last Saturday, July 4, 2026, the edge of Partridge Lake—part of the stunning Wolf River system in Fremont—wasn't just a waterway; it was the epicenter of the ultimate Independence Day celebration. We’ve all been to our fair share of lake parties, but there is something uniquely "Wisconsin" about trading the traditional backyard barbecue for a massive barge party with hundreds of your closest boating friends.
The weather gods clearly got the memo, gifting us an absolute heater of a day that was perfect for everything from full-throttle powerboating to lazy-river floating. With the sun beating down and the water shimmering, it was the perfect backdrop for what turned out to be one hell of a party. If you missed out, don't worry—we’ve got the full breakdown of why this year's Dustin Lee Barge Party was one for the record books.
The main event, of course, was the music. Having Dustin Lee performing live right on the barge brought that concert energy directly to the sandbar. There’s something surreal about being waist-deep in the Wolf River system, drink in hand, listening to live music while a massive flotilla of boats and pontoons surrounds you. It’s the kind of organized chaos that we live for all summer long.
Beyond the tunes and the "sandbar shenanigans," the best part of the day was the community spirit. This event was a fundraiser for Remarkable, an incredible non-profit organization (formerly known as Lakeside Packaging Plus) that is deeply committed to elevating the lives of individuals with diverse abilities.
Through their day services, employment training, and youth programs in Neenah and Oshkosh, Remarkable creates meaningful opportunities and fosters community engagement for their associates. Seeing the boating community rally together to support their mission—helping empower adults and youth with diverse abilities—made the celebration hit even closer to home. Huge shoutouts to our sponsors—Tree Pros LLC, JG Restoration, RE/MAX, Area Excavating & Land Improvement, and Steven Alix—for helping make this event a success.
I ran into a massive crowd of old friends, and honestly, that’s what boating is all about. Whether you were anchored up on a pontoon, floating on a raft, or just catching the breeze on the deck, the vibe was pure joy. Seeing everyone—from local boaters to folks who traveled in from out of town—celebrating freedom on the water was a reminder of why we put up with those long, freezing Wisconsin winters.
Between the free merch giveaways, the cold drinks, and the sheer number of patriotic setups on the water, it was impossible to have a bad time. The energy was contagious, the music was loud, and the smiles were endless. It was a textbook example of how the Wolf River system brings people together to make memories that last long after the tan lines fade.
Did you make it out to Fremont for the 2026 Dustin Lee Barge Party? Whether you snagged some of the free merch or just had the best seat in the house on your boat, we want to hear about it. What was your favorite moment from the show, or did you have a legendary encounter with a friend you haven't seen since last season?
